Laird of Dunans
DUNANS CASTLE LIMITED
ARGYLL, PA22 3AD
LAIRD OF DUNANS
This brand is sold extensively by Groupon and by Gift Republic.
The website is very professional, and powered by Shopify which is an excellent trading platform. The brand suffers, however, from the attempt to conflate Dunans Castle Limited, an enterprise claimed to be for the purpose of restoring the “castle” with the Dunans Charitable Trust, a Scottish charity that appears to have raised almost no money and has now been “Retired”. For twelve years, the Dixon-Spains have spent no money on the restoration of either the bridge or the castle. Yet still they make this bogus claim that plot sales are for restoration.
What money has been raised appears to have been spent on the Dixon-Spain’s home. Whilst there is nothing wrong with this in law, the representation that the plots are sold for charity and/or to restore ancient buildings, is dishonest.
Donald Harris, a Reporter appointed by the Scottish Ministers (the government), as part of a planning enforcement process noted the lack of work thus:
I note that since the appellants bought the property in 2003, much of the Georgian House adjoining the castle has been restored and is now occupied. It appears that business enterprises have been established which provide a measure of economic support. Apart from some works towards making the ruined castle safe, work has yet to start on the restoration of the bridge and castle.
